The RSES Technical Institute (TI) provides a comprehensive career development path designed to assist members who seek to attain the highest level of competency within the HVAC/R industry.

The six RSES levels of technician competency are:

Student Technician
Level 1 (Technician)
Level 2 (Advanced Technician)
Level 3 (Advanced Technician Level 2)
Level 4 (Advanced Technician CM)
Level 5 (Mastertech Specialist)

Levels of Industry Recognition:

CM: Certificate Member

RSES Certificate Members are recognized industry-wide as having achieved high levels of HVAC/R knowledge. Many employers offer incentives for successful completion!

CMS: Certificate Member Specialist

RSES Specialist Members establish their expertise in areas such as commercial refrigeration, commercial air conditioning, heating, controls and domestic service, electrical.

Types of Certification:
EPA
, NATE

EPA- Environmental Protection Agency
RSES has one of the largest Environmental Protection Agency programs in the industry:

Certifying more than 150,000 technicians in accordance with Section 608 of the U.S. Clean Air Act. RSES materials have prepared thousands for the Environment Canada refrigerant exam.

To help the technician study more efficiently, a newly revised refrigerant usage study guide includes specific sections focusing on:

Core
Type 1
Type 2
Type 3

NATE - North American Technician Excellence
North American Technician Excellence

Training:

RSES offers the first and most extensive NATE certification preparatory materials. Many RSES chapters offer NATE prop classes based on the reference manual.
